The Old Vicarage Hotel was originally built in the mid 1850s as the replacement for the famous Cat and Fiddle Public House. It was turned into the Vicarage by Sir George Meyrick the landlord and keen cricketer who introduced Rev. Hatton the new Vicar, and an all round cricketer, to the Parish, not only to boost Christianity, but to strenghthen his middle order batting in Sir George's cricket team!
We are situated on the edge of Hampshire's New Forest, one mile from the beach and close to local amenities, which include Walks, Golf, Fishing, Horse Riding, Sailing and Windsurfing. We also have our own cricket pitch in the grounds, ideal for cricket tours.
Hinton is close to the historic towns of Christchurch, Winchester, Lyndhurst, Dorchester and Salisbury, and for shopping, Bournmouth and Southampton. London is approximately one hour and thirty minutes away by train with easy access at Hinton Admiral Station just 500 yards away from the hotel. There is also a main bus route.
